Challenge

Increase patient compliance levels to treatment from 48 per cent after the initial 6 months. Poor compliance resulted in lower patient recovery levels and impacted the revenues of the pharmaceutical client by approximately € 3,700 per patient each year. Mondial Assistance provided quality, timely information (observing strict legal parameters) to the patient, the treating doctor and the pharmaceutical company, as well as on-going monitoring of non-compliance factors.

Objective

To guarantee patient compliance for a complex (ie. injection-based) medium-term treatment, based on an expensive yet very efficient medicine.

Solution

Forging a strong partnership with the treating doctor in which a free 12 month compliance program is offered to the patient (by their personal doctor). This program includes injection coaching, nutritional guidance and continuous follow-up. Patient monitoring is performed by Mondial Assistance medical teams comprising a supervising medical doctor and a team of nurses.

Results

  • Improved treatment results and satisfaction levels for both patient and treating doctor
  • Patient treatment compliance improved to 79 per cent after 12 months and resulted in a return on investment for the pharmaceutical client of 593 per cent
  • Annual turnover increased to € 1,910 per patient
